A minimalist puzzle game.

In the spirit of Monument Valley and Dots — calm, deductive, no LiveOps. One line, one solution, one focus. Free on iOS and Android.

Genre

What makes a puzzle game truly minimalist.

Minimalism is not just a visual style. A minimalist puzzle game gets the genre right at four levels at once: a single deep mechanic, a restrained palette, calm pacing without LiveOps clutter, and respect for the player's time.

One mechanic, deep variations

The best minimalist puzzles do one thing and explore it. Monument Valley turns one impossible-geometry idea inside out. Threes builds an entire game around merging adjacent tiles. Hexcells stays with one logic-deduction kernel.

Restrained palette

A few colours, intentional whitespace, type that disappears into the experience. The visual language stays out of the puzzle's way.

Calm pacing

No timers screaming. No streak nag. No daily-login pressure. The game waits patiently for the player.

No LiveOps anxiety

No FOMO events, no expiring content, no notifications begging you back. The minimalist game is the same game whether you play daily or monthly.

How monostroke fits

One mechanic, eight themes, zero pressure.

monostroke is a single line drawing puzzle. That is the entire mechanic. Press an endpoint, drag a line, find the longest path that fits the rules. Mechanics layer on top — walls, ice, switches, portals, mirrors — but the core action never changes. You always draw one line.

The visual language is intentionally restrained: a near-black canvas, a warm off-white path, a single gold accent. Eight cosmetic themes restyle the entire app — Paperweight, Tron, Constellation, Blueprint, Mirror Obsidian, Wood Maple, Aurora — but they never change the rules. The themes are the only place where visual variety lives; the puzzle stays minimal.

No daily-login bonuses

The game does not reward you for opening it every day. Progress comes from playing, not from showing up.

No notifications

monostroke does not push notifications. If you forget about the app for a month, nothing changes when you come back.

No paywall

The full puzzle set, all modes, all mechanics — free. Cosmetic IAPs are optional flavour; gameplay is not gated.

Adjacent

If you love these, try monostroke.

monostroke shares an audience with the great minimalist mobile puzzles. If you've spent hours with any of the below, you'll feel at home.

  • Monument Valley — same calm-design DNA, premium-feel free game, restrained palette. Different mechanic (geometry vs line-drawing) but identical sensibility.
  • Dots / Two Dots — adjacent visual language (dots on a grid), adjacent puzzle family (line-drawing). monostroke trades the colour-matching for path-length grading.
  • Threes — single mechanic, deep variations, no LiveOps. monostroke is in the same school: one rule, explored fully.
  • Hexcells — pure-deduction logic puzzle with restrained UI. monostroke applies the same respect-the-player ethos to a different mechanic.
  • Mini Metro — minimalist visual language, calm pacing, single core mechanic. monostroke is a single-player static-puzzle counterpart.
  • Linelight / Causality — line-based minimalist puzzles. Adjacent niche, different puzzle structure.

FAQ

Common questions.

What makes a puzzle game minimalist?

A single core mechanic, a restrained visual palette, calm pacing, and an absence of LiveOps clutter. The player's attention stays on the puzzle, not on the meta. Examples: Monument Valley, Dots, Threes, Hexcells, monostroke.

Is monostroke similar to Monument Valley?

Same design philosophy — calm pacing, restrained palette, no-clutter UI, premium-feel free game — but a different puzzle mechanic. Monument Valley is impossible-architecture geometry; monostroke is single-line drawing. Adjacent sensibility, distinct mechanics.

Is monostroke similar to Dots?

Adjacent visual aesthetic (dots on a grid) and adjacent puzzle family (line-drawing). Dots is colour-matching with timed and move-limited modes; monostroke is path-length grading with no timer and no move limit. Same minimalist crowd, different rules.

Are there ads in monostroke?

The free tier shows interstitial and rewarded video ads. Cosmetic IAPs do not remove ads. There is no separate ad-free subscription. Ads are paced to respect the player.

Does monostroke have LiveOps mechanics?

No. monostroke has no daily-login bonuses, no streak FOMO, no time-limited events, no expiring content, no notifications. The game stays where it is whether you open it daily or once a month.

Where can I download monostroke?

monostroke is available on the App Store and Google Play. Free on both.
