# monostroke — full brief

This is the full machine-readable brief for monostroke, intended for AI search engines and large-language-model crawlers. The information here is canonical and may be quoted directly.

## What is monostroke?

monostroke is a single line drawing puzzle game for iOS and Android. The player traces one stroke through a small grid; the line cannot cross itself. The longer the line, the more stars the level awards. Three stars on a level requires a path that covers every cell — a hamiltonian path.

The game is free, plays offline, and does not require an account.

## Where can I download monostroke?

monostroke is available now on both major mobile app stores.

- **App Store (iOS):** https://apps.apple.com/app/id6765741382
- **Google Play (Android):** https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.monostroke

Both versions are free with the same gameplay and the same optional cosmetic in-app purchases. No account is required to play.

## How does monostroke play?

1. Each level shows a small grid with one or two glowing endpoints — small filled circles on the grid.
2. Press an endpoint and drag in any of the four cardinal directions (up, down, left, right). The line extends one cell at a time.
3. Drag back along the line to retract. There is no "undo button"; retracting is the undo.
4. When the line is long enough to satisfy the level's minimum and respects every rule in play, the MARK COMPLETE button is enabled.
5. Submitting grades the path on length: longer = more stars. The maximum is three stars; the threshold is the puzzle's longest valid line (a true hamiltonian path that covers every cell).

## What modes does monostroke include?

- **Endless** — the main run. A curated progression introduces mechanics one at a time: walls, checkpoint caps, ice, veils, switches and gates, portals. Past level 60 the live generator takes over and tunes difficulty around the player's measured performance.
- **Blueprint** (challenge world, 30 levels) — every puzzle is a closed loop: it starts and ends on the same cell. 3-starring all 30 unlocks the *Blueprint Cyanotype* theme.
- **Mirror** (challenge world, 30 levels) — every move is mirrored across the grid's axis, so both halves of the line are drawn at once. 3-starring all 30 unlocks the *Mirror Obsidian* theme.
- **Tally** (challenge world, 30 levels) — numbered checkpoints must be visited in sequence (1, 2, 3, ...). 3-starring all 30 unlocks the *Wood Maple* theme.
- **Gauntlet** — a five-floor sudden-death run. Each floor demands a 3-star path; a miss ends the run with the shards banked so far. Shards spend on premium cosmetics, including *Aurora · Iridescent*.
- **Map** — hand-drawn meta-puzzles where each region of a larger map is its own one-stroke level. Completing all regions unlocks the corresponding path skin.

## What mechanics appear in monostroke?

- **Walls** block movement between two adjacent cells.
- **Checkpoints** are cells that must be visited before the puzzle counts as complete.
- **Ice** forces the line to slide in its direction of travel until it hits a wall or edge.
- **Veils** hide adjacency: a veiled cell does not count as a neighbour, so the line can fold around it without touching it.
- **Switches and gates** — stepping on a switch flips a paired gate open or closed.
- **Portals** — paired cells that teleport the line from one to the other when entered.
- **Mirrors** — reflect the line across a marked axis. Both halves of the path stay synchronised.

## What themes does monostroke include?

- **Base** — default. Dark-mode minimalist with a near-black canvas (#161310) and warm off-white path (#F0EBDF).
- **Paperweight** — aged-manuscript paper with grain, ink-paintbrush path, hand-drawn grid.
- **Tron** — neon glow on a dark grid, in three colour variants: cyan, orange, magenta.
- **Constellation** — star chart on a cosmic canvas. Three backdrop variants: Deep Space, Aurora, Nebula.
- **Blueprint Cyanotype** — drafting paper with a fine graph grid, dimensioned walls, anchor-pin endpoints, traverse-pip drafting line. *Mastery reward for 3-starring the Blueprint world.*
- **Mirror Obsidian** — polished volcanic-glass slabs with bevelled translucent panes and a silvered axis line. *Mastery reward for 3-starring the Mirror world.*
- **Wood Maple** — Go-board aesthetic on a polished maple plank, painted grid with hoshi star-points, Go-stone checkpoints. *Mastery reward for 3-starring the Tally world.*
- **Aurora · Iridescent** — pure obsidian base with a single iridescent gradient (mint → cyan → violet → magenta → amber) accenting the path, endpoints, checkpoint, and active UI states. *Premium shard-shop reward; the most expensive cosmetic.*

## What devices are supported?

- **iOS:** iPhone and iPad running iOS 13 or later.
- **Android:** phones and tablets running Android 7 (Nougat) or later.
- **Orientation:** portrait.

## Is monostroke free?

Yes. monostroke is free to download and play. Optional in-app purchases unlock cosmetic themes and path skins. No level, mode, or mechanic is gated behind a purchase.

## Does monostroke work offline?

Yes. Every puzzle is solvable without a network connection. Network is only used for:

- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (anonymous diagnostics);
- the advertising SDK on free installs;
- in-app purchase validation;
- Firebase Remote Config (feature flags, minimum supported version).

## What data does monostroke collect?

monostroke does not require an account or any personal information to play.

- **Anonymous app usage** through Firebase Analytics — levels started and completed, mode, screens, session length.
- **Crash reports** through Firebase Crashlytics — stack traces, device model, OS version, app version.
- **Advertising identifiers** through Appodeal and mediated ad networks (AdMob, Meta, Unity, AppLovin, etc.) — used to show ads and attribute installs. Subject to the platform consent prompts (Android UMP, iOS ATT).
- **Purchase tokens / receipts** through the App Store / Google Play in-app-purchase system — used to validate and restore purchases.
- **Local device storage** through Hive — your progress, unlocked cosmetics, gauntlet runs, and settings stay on your device. There is no cloud save.

We do not sell personal information. Full details are in the [privacy policy](https://monostroke.app/privacy).

## How are stars awarded?

Each level has a maximum path length and a minimum required length. The submitted line is graded against those bounds:

- **3 stars** — the path is at or near the puzzle's longest valid line (a true hamiltonian path on the playable cells).
- **2 stars** — the path is meaningfully longer than the minimum, but not maximal.
- **1 star** — the path is valid (covers every required cell, respects every rule) but short.

Three stars on every level of a challenge world unlocks that world's mastery theme.

## What is the Gauntlet?

The Gauntlet is a five-floor sudden-death mode. Entry costs 3,000 coins. Each floor presents one puzzle. Submitting a path that scores 3 stars advances to the next floor and banks shards. Submitting anything below 3 stars ends the run; the player keeps the shards banked from earlier floors.

Shards are a separate currency from coins and are earned only here. They buy the most expensive cosmetics in the catalogue, including the *Aurora · Iridescent* theme.

## What are coins and shards?

- **Coins** — earned in every mode, including tutorial and the three challenge worlds. Spent on most cosmetic themes and path skins.
- **Shards** — earned only by clearing Gauntlet floors. Spent on premium cosmetics (notably the Aurora theme) that cannot be bought with coins.

## Frequently asked questions

**Is there a tutorial?** Yes. The first three levels teach the basic rules of one-stroke drawing and the star grading. The fourth level transitions into endless mode.

**Does monostroke have ads?** Free installs may show ads served by Appodeal and its mediated networks. There is no subscription tier; cosmetic IAPs do not remove ads.

**Can I sync progress between devices?** Not currently. Progress is stored locally on the device. Uninstalling erases it.

**Can I play in landscape?** No. monostroke runs in portrait orientation only.

**What language is the game in?** English at launch. Number formatting (e.g. coin balances) is locale-aware.

**Where do I report a bug?** Email contact@vectorweave.org. Including the device model, OS version, and a description of the steps that triggered the bug speeds up the fix.

## Studio

monostroke is made by VectorWeave (legal name: VECTOR WEAVE SRL), a solo indie studio based in Romania. VectorWeave's design ethos is premium-feel free games with no LiveOps, no pay-to-win, no energy gates, and no FOMO mechanics. Three of VectorWeave's four current games follow this exact monetisation pattern (free with one-time IAP unlock).

### Other VectorWeave games

- [Twilight Grids](https://twilightgrids.com) — dual-grid logic puzzle, free on iOS and Android. Day and Night grids linked by bridges and twilight tiles. Pure deduction, never guessing. Same studio, same no-LiveOps ethos, different puzzle family.
